"Hi, This is Gracia Chua here. Enterprise Sports Group is recruiting ppl to help out in the STANDARD CHARTERED MARATHON 2008. We have several events in conjunction with the actual marathon such as the packing of the race packs and the race expo which is to give out the race packs. We need help urgently as the event is coming up and lots of planning needs to be done. Most importantly, the whole event cannot happen or be successful without ur help. The following are the details of the events prior to the STANDARD CHARTERED MARATHON.
Event: Packing Day
Date: 28 nov to 1 dec
Day: Friday to Monday
Pax needed: 20 ppl needed
Pay: $30 per day
Time and venue to be confirmed
Event: Race Expo
Date: 4 to 6 Dec
Day and time: Thursday to Friday time is 10am to 10 pm
Saturday time is 8 am to 8pm but may drag since it is a weekend

I know that u guys are thinking that the allowance is very little and it is not worth doing for such long hours but I want to let u know that ADIDAS shirts and merchandises will be given out to all helpers and also this is a one-time experience as every event is different. Also students will be entitled to CIP hours. I sincerely hope u guys can help out and also spread the message and bring your friends along as we really need a lot of manpower ok.
Another thing is that, if u realize, the days for expo and race day is back to back and u guys may want to do both events. So suggestions for people living in the west is that u guys dun go home as there will not be enough time so just hang out with your friend maybe catch a movie or something den u can proceed to the venue for the race as it will be quite early in the morning.
As to whether there will be enough vacancies, DON’T WORRY as we always need more people so call classmates, your neighbors, your relatives, your CCA friends whoever. If you can bring your whole school, that’s the best. If your have friends who have just finished their o level’s that would be most ideal as some of the days are weekdays and they will be able to go. The more the merrier alright. So go ahead and forward this mail to all your friends out there.
Now. I would need to know if you are interested. So I will need your name, ic number, contact number, email address, t-shirt size and the event that you are interested in doing. I have attached and excel spreadsheet together with this mail so what you can do is to include your friends and your particulars in the spreadsheet and just forward it back to me.

Well, we kinda had fun today.
With Xinyi, Daniel, Safa, and Caleb-for-a-while.
Cycling, swimming in the sea (or rather dipping in the water) and of course some CAM-WHORING!!!
Well it's time to enjoy life isn't it, since it is after promos....
And Safarina seems lonely, 'cos she is the only girl!! Haha she wasn't bullied anyway~~

Ok guys, this thing is kinda' hard to explain, but i shall keep it short and sweet, alright.
I will need everyone to tell me which of the following criterias you have achieved for CAAL (Community, Adventure, Achievement, Leadership):
None (meaning not even Basic Criteria)
Basic (Modules that all students should have undergone during their stay in NJ)
Intermediate (additional modules where students who have a passion in any particular aspect of CAAL can develop deeper into) (Highest level achieved)
Community:
Basic:

All of you are supposed to write a summative/final reflections on the whole project and upload it to CAAL portfolio in the student profiling system(which i suppose KM, will be checking with mr lin as to WHERE specifically).

- How has the project taught me to understand the concerns of my community?

National Day Performance
Basically Lignum has to put this 5min long performance on 8August ( I hope it is a half day) and after a lengthy discussion today, we came up with the script. AND we'll need 8 people from each class. Actually I'm not too sure whether is it 5 or 8. but it's around there. These people have to act. Watch the below video and keep in mind that our performance is something like that... so if you're shy, you can be one of the people wearing all black and assisting with the tricks as well.
No CIP hours awarded for doing this, sorry people. But it will be a fun experience. The performance, if executed properly, will be super funny. Trust me. Oh yea, a really brief summary of the plot, Mas Selamat escapes from prison, people watching news report get together and work to help catch him, someone spots him, they catch him, end off with a birthday wish to Singapore.
Hm, since I think few of you will volunteer yourselves, I will probably volunteer random people tomorrow. Watch the video okay, it's super spastic and funny.

Chem Quizzes!!
Ok guys, there will be Chem quizzes every week!!! OMG...
Next week (week 4) there will be lecture test on Bonding, Kinetics, Energetics and Equilibrium
Week 5 got class test Hess Law calculations
Week 6 got class test on Bonding, Energetics and Kinetics
Week 7 got class test on Organic Chem
Week 8 got class test on Ionic Equilibrium
Then September holidays got "take home quizzes" (for revision i guess)
There will also be consolidation lectures every week at 3.40 on Thursday
each lecture will teach the topic that was taught the previous week
(eg. Week 8 they will revise about organic chem)
the lectures will carry on till week 2 of Term 4.

1. it'll be easier,

耶稣的力量和动力
一个十岁的小学生发现五年级的数学实在是他这一生中最难的功课。
无论家教、同学、CD教学片、教科书，但都没用。
最后父母决定把孩子转进私立小学，不是普通的私立小学，而是一所天主教学校。
开学的第一天来临了，小家伙开始向着伟大的陌生世界冒险。
那天放学回来，他走过父母亲面前，径自回房把门关起来。
辛苦工作了两个小时，出来吃个饭就又直接回到楼上，认真的做功课直到就寝。
这样的模式一天继续一天，直到第一次发成绩单。
那天，这孩子走进家门，把信封丢在餐桌上，就径自回房做功课。
他父母亲打开成绩单，让他们惊奇的是数学成绩居然是A。
他们欣喜万分地冲上儿子的房间，为他的进步激动不已。
「是那些修女吗？」爸爸问。
「不是。」儿子回答。
「是课前的祷告吗？」妈妈问。

Career and Scholarship Fair @ NJC 2008 (COMPULSORY!!)
The annual Careers and Scholarship Fair will be held on 2nd July, Wednesday during CAAL period. There will be 15 booths and 17 career talks. The Booths will be at the atrium and along the linkway. ALL are to visit the booths and attend the talks.

CIP, again.
hello folks. it's ME again.
anyway updates on CIP. according to yangsheng, we've to complete the 9 sessions BY 9th JULY.
so people. i propose that we do MORE THAN ONCE everyweek, like going for cip like twice a week after Common Tests, to do cip. any objections? anyway, we HAVE TO DO IT. or we won't be able to meet 9 sessions.
for those who've missed some cip sessions, i'll prolly be arranging for more than 9 sessions. SO PLEASE MAKE AN EFFORT TO COME DOWN. cause we'll be doing extra for you guys to meet your 9 sessions.

heyya folks(:
this is KELLYYYY.
tentatively, CIP sessions will be on the 10th of JUNE & 17th of JUNE (tentatively). will confirm other dates with you guys again. PLEASE tell me if you guys can/cannot make it ASAP.
anyway, i'll be cutting down on cip sessions during this holidays. since ALOT of you guys cant make it): yep. regarding the dateline and all. i've asked around i think it isn't much of an issue AS YET. we shall GO for cip faithfully EVERY WEEK, in the month of JULY. SO PLEASE MAKE IT THEN. or i seriously dont know how to blah~ so puh-lease yeah, it TAKES PRIORITY over CCA(the Nth time i'm repeating myself)
to those who haven't been coming for cip. WE HAVE TO COMPLETE 9 SESSIONS. remember it's 9 SESSIONS. i've sent out the attendance list previously. so if you realise you wont have enough sessions, please do come for all the CIP sessions now.

hello all! its xinyi here, and im here to blog aboout the class outing.
aye overall attendence wasnt really good. ppl who came: xinyi, haocheng, daniel, runchao, liumin, lichen, xiaoye and kelly. (paul joined us at 10:30pm)
oki we met at bedok mrt at about 2:15, then s10 ppl were there too. and they kept looking at us =x. their attendence was much better than us..3 girls and alot of guys. aye.
took bus at bedok to east coast park, then we walked over to ecp burger king there. ate lunch, then went to rent bikes and blades. liumin and daniel bikes, xinyi and haocheng blades. xiaoye kelly lichen runchao din want to blade/cycle so they went to the beach to "pick seashell".
then i shall talk about the biking trip. we rode/skated till CHANGI AIRPORT RUNWAY. =D damn tiring la. total distance travelled: 26KM
LOL. pro right. for the bladers, our legs were aching, for the bikers, their butts were aching. heh.
went back to the bike shop at about 6:45. overshot the time limit by about 45mins. the bikers had to pay extra $14. bladers for some reason dunnid. xD
anyway anyway we met runchao at burger king(xiaoye kelly lichen left early le).
we(runchao liumin daniel haocheng xinyi) went to raffles city to eat dinner. but at raffles city we decided that the food there was too ex and not nice, so we went to marina square foodcourt to eat.
then we went to find 7-eleven to buy alcohol. yay. so we bought this 2 bottles to share.
walked to esplanade outside, near singapore river to drink. hahas. not bad la sat there and chatted awhile. then paul came. FINALLY. then we sat there awhile more then all went home.
mm..guys, its not a class outing without the class. do try to make it for every one of our outings. afterall, we are a class, we gotta make our class work. i know we are a odd-combi class, that we dont see eachother that often, but that only means that we gotta try harder to stay bonded, to stay together, not it our little cliques but as a class. =)

Class Outing
Okay, if we want to go bowling, can go east coast. then we can cycle if we get tired of bowling. Another choice will be Sentosa. Don't think there's bowling alleys there, but there's the beach and we can play ball. And there are other stuff we can do like visit Insect Kingdom, Underwater World, Luge Ride, Vivo City, I dunno... expensive though... Or we can just go town and ... ... walk around? That's not very good lah I think, will be quite boring for some.

Record-breaking cum Rice Donation
This is something I would like everyone to come and help out, cos its gonna be a record-breaker!!!
Changi Simei Constituency would be having a 24-hour skipping challenge in support of Southeast CDC’s skipping challenge! It is definitely an exciting and meaningful activity to raise 20,000 kg of rice for the needy!
Details of the event as follows:
Date and Time: 28 June 10 am to 29 Jun 10 am
Venue: Changi Simei CC Hall
Our committee (which is me) would need 20 volunteers (outside of YEC) to man the shift: 1700 hrs to 1900 hrs on 28 Jun 08 (Sat).
The main duties of the volunteers would be logistics: registration, monitoring of rounds, etc. All volunteers, regardless of age are welcome !
Appreciate all of you can spread the message around and get your friends to be part of this exciting and meaningful challenge !
Registration form of the volunteer is obtainable from me. You can contact me should you require more information. CIP hours mah... Not sure leh. This kind of thing you want CIP hours meh? Anyway I will go find out first lah.

Hmm, irrelevant maybe, but just feel like sharing this. Sadly, this only applies to 2009.
For scales, basically, the lower grade scales have been simplified while the upper grade scales have more stuff. whole tone scales have been added to grade 8. Sight-reading, wahaha! they have simplified the stuff and added evocative titles for the pieces and also fingerings. I have a sample of the sight-reading pieces, so tell me if you're interested.
Repertoire will contain not only movements in strict sonata form, but also classical movements in other forms. I guess that means more modern/incoherent music? Oh, it says here that new arrangements such as Jazzy Top Cat and Saint-Saen's The Elephant... so stuff originally written for other instruments but now arranged for piano can be played? Interesting.
Ole, new prep tests for flute, clarinet and cello... new theory books... new syllabuses for guitar and singing.
Singapore was featured on the ABRSM mag. Su-San:" Although Singapore is a small island, Associated Board exams are very popular; it is not unusual to have 10,000 candidates taking a theory exam in one day. As fo practical exams, almost 25,000 candidates are examined over a period of three months. We also organize High Scorers' Concerts and Professional Development Programmes. Singapore was the first country after the UK to offer the CT ABRSM course." Oh well, thank our kiasu parents for that.

Links and Pictures
Hey all.
Added a new Links section and hopefully the first word that comes to mind when you see all the links won't be "mugger". The first time I visited those websites was just now, when i searched for them. Thought they will be useful when we're doing our er... gp? and if there are any helpful science/lit/math websites out there, we can expand our list too (:
Okay, I just realised how [insert alternative word for mugger] I'm making our blog sound. So I shall add links to some video sites after publishing this post.
But seriously, the Time website looked cool. Wanted to kop the script for their news flash and put it on our blog, but I think we may get sued for it so forget it. Hm, go visit that site and read up when you have time.

Guitar Concert
HEyz! Anyone is interested to go Guitar Concert? It's held in school, in the Ngee Ann Kong Si Auditorium on 11 July. 8 Dollars Only!!! And you can get to hear melodious music playing from the strings of guitar! Super interesting!

My Official First Post
The OFP; I shall try to type a long post since it is sad to see an empty blog. Put up a poll, VOTE (: and you people have to know, that blogs left in my care usually ends up rotting. and that's exactly the reason why I invited everyone (including Mr Lin) to be authors/contributors of this blog. Do post whenever you can.
The theoretical uses of this blog are as follows:
1) updates about CIP, outings, admin stuff
2) reminders about admin stuff, birthdays, tests, exams, upcoming events, etc
3) place for us to display our class photos (or lack of)
4) advertisments for concerts, events or rallying of supporters for sports competitions
I shall add more if I remember.
I was playing around with the new blogger functions, and added AdSense to our blog. Google will display ads on our blog (I placed it at the bottom) and revenue is generated per valid click. I have no idea how they count the revenue, but if we do make revenue, that will be a nice contribution to our class fund.
A part of the Terms and Conditons:
I agree that I will not click on the Google adds I'm serving through AdSense.
I will not place ads on sites that include incentives to click on ads.
I agree that I can receive checks made out to the payee name I have listed above.
I will not place ads on sites involved in the distribution of copyrighted materials.
I will not place ads on sites that include pornographic content.
I certify that I have read the AdSense Program Policies.
I do not already have an approved AdSense account.
And, I've added quite a few blog elements or whatever you call those on the right column. I'll add links to your blogs if you people tag with your blog address yea. And I am itching to add a slideshow to our blog so people! start mailing your photos (class related of course) to the class email! If I'm not wrong... we have to take CIP pictures too, and we can start soon.
Next CIP is on 4June. Don't forget to come to school on Monday for Chem lecture (for some people, chem makeup lessons too), GP COMPULSORY consolidation on 28/29June, Chem SPA.
Oh man, they still call this a holiday. I'll probably figure out how to add music to this blog... later.
